Cold thermogenesis

Cold Thermogenesis is the process of exposing the body to cold temperatures for a short period of time to take advantage of the beneficial adaptive response.

Benefits include:

  • Boosted metabolism/fat burning by activating the mitochondria in brown fat stores.

  • Anti-inflammatory effect

  • Antioxidant activity

  • Boosted immune system

  • Improved insulin sensitivity

  • Increased dopamine levels

  • Nervous system regulation training - the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight response) is activated by cold exposure. We can use this as an opportunity to up-train the parasympathetic response.

We include cold thermogenesis sessions in our Rēset Programs combined with a workshop on Neuroception and a short breathwork exercise. Our goal is to get more than physiological benefits from the ice - it is an opportunity to get out of the mind and into the body, to sit with discomfort, push to the edges of your comfort zone, activate the parasympathetic state and release any emotions that come up. Plus you get to do it with the support of the team and the group with a dopamine high afterwards.
